Biography
Niamh Shergold is a British photographer, based in Devon.
She graduated from Falmouth University.. receiving a Bachelor of Arts First Class Honours degree, specialising in Photography, in July 2024.
She focuses on working with photography, as a form of visual storytelling.. choosing to commit to long-term passion projects, which are devoted to portraiture and centred around themes of connection.
Her work has a documentary meets editorial feel, as she embraces both authenticity and her unique creative vision.. to make her best images.
Ideally, she chooses to shoot on her Mamiya RB67 medium format film camera and prefers to capture her images outdoors- utilising natural light in her approach.
Niamh focuses on capturing intimate portraits- through an empathetic & gentle approach, with a sensitive & considered tone. Niamh’s subjects are always the most highly valued element within her work. Her priority is forming connections and always creating a quiet & comfortable atmosphere to collaborate in, giving her subjects the space to be vulnerable and therefore capturing honesty & authenticity in every one of her photographs.
Niamh’s photographic practice gives her a space to express her inner world and feelings, furthermore it gives her the opportunity to connect with many interesting & inspiring individuals.. who she would otherwise not get the chance to meet.
